At Great Shades! our focus is clear:
We bring you the very best in eye protection at a price you can
afford. Our crystal clear, high definition driving lenses offer full
UV 400 + HEV filtration. Our frames are sturdy plastic, TR90 or nickel
silver for durability. Our lens material is optical quality acrylic,
polycarbonate or TAC. All are scratch resistent and shatterproof. Add
to that our lifetime replacement program and FREE carrying case and you
can be sure that your sunglasses will serve you for years.
Our copper lens filters out a tiny part of the light spectrum (high Energy Visible Light or HEV) which is responsible for eye irritation and the urge to squint. These light rays scatter in your eye, causing slightly hazy vision. When we filter it out, your vision is sharper and clearer.
About UV - Our glasses are designated UV 400. That means that they filer out 99% of all harmful UV rays up to 400 nanometers.
Our low-priced driving lenses are made of optical quality acrylic. They are scratch-resistant and shatter-proof. They will keep your eyes comfortable in moderate to bright light but they are light enough to allow you to leave them on inside a tunnel or other low-light area. They block 100% of UVA and UVB and filter out the HEV (high energy visible) light which causes the haze.
Our mid-priced driving lenses are made of optical quality polycarbonate. They are a little lighter in weight than the acrylic lenses above, and a bit clearer. They are scratch-resistant and shatterproof. Because of the higher quality lens material, these may improve clarity and depth perception a bit more than the acrylic lenses. They block 100% of UVA and UVB and filter out the HEV which causes hazy vision.
Our Premium quality Polarized high definition driving lenses are made of T.A.C. (triacetate cellulose). T.A.C. is a particularly clear, featherweight lens material. These lenses are lighter in color than our other glasses, yet they stop the squint beautifully. This remarkable lens dramatically improves depth perception and detail. Colors are sharp and distinct. Polarization takes care of the glare from a wet street, a shiny dashboard or the surface glare on water. The frames on the Polarized glasses are lightweight as well. Metal frames are thin and have spring temples. Plastic frames are flexible, yet retain their shape.
Cleaning Your Sunglasses
Our favorite lens cleaner is "Blu Goo". You can find it at events, fairs, motorcycle shows or go to www.blugoo.com. It is a water-based cleaner, so doesn't leave any residue on your lenses. It is available in liquid or gel form. Blu Goo helps with fogging and reduces the appearance of fine scratches.
We suggest all-cotton T-shirt material for polishing your lenses. Please avoid paper products of any kind. A sueded micro-fiber cloth works well, but the silky micro-fiber cloth that you get with your glasses is not very good at cleaning, other than taking off dust and the ocassional fingerprint.
WARRANTY
Your warranty is actually a re-purchase program. When your sunglasses get scratched or damaged, you may purchase a new pair at a fraction of the cost you originally paid. See full instructions on our WARRANTY page.
